OK so I have an Epson 4490 and I've used an Epson V700. I am looking for an upgrade. I want something faster and with better image quality. One reason why I want to upgrade is because I lost the film holders for my 4490 scanner, haha, and so getting a new set might cost as much as replacing my 4490.

I want something that is reasonably robust, consistent in quality, and at a decent price. It doesn't have to be top-notch optically. I only care about web viewing to be honest, I"d rather wet print if I were to print. Even with web viewing, i can see that my 4490 scans are inferior to dedicated scanners, atleast for 35mm.

I hear a lot about Plustek for the new scanners but not so much buzz from Reflecta. Is the Plustek a better scanner? To be honest, from what I've read, neither scanner seems to be great....It seems that Nikon is hands down the best (at a consumer price point) but it is a costlier option...

Is the workflow between the dedicated and the flatbed scanners that much different.. I mean, are the dedicated scanners much slower? How does it work for these scanners?

Initially I thought to get a 120 Plustek or Reflecta scanner but then I fear that scanning would be too slow and so I'm thinking about the V700 or maybe a V700 and a dedicated 35mm scanner.
