Looking for a Zorki 4 take-up spool

Hi All;

I just acquired a Zorki 4 in very goog condition and I am looking for a take-up spool to make it complete. I have tried using the spool from my Fed 2e in it, and it works, however it seems to slip down slightly as the film is advanced, judging from the first set of prints I got back, Another thought I had was trying to make one myself. If anyone has one they would like to sell, or has any experience making one, please let me know.

Yeah I think I got one in my photo-mess.... Just leave me the time to take my helmet, my pocket light, and when I'll reach the surface again you (perhaps) will have a nice original Zorki spool... I bought it five bucks and never used it, does the price seems fine ? Write to me if you're interested...

Alex-photo usually has some available on ebay. My 1957 zorki 4 came with a take-up spool but it is very loose on the spindle. I compared it with the spools on my feds and it is different from the fed 1,2,3a and zorki 1 spools that I looked at. I have heard of people losing the takeup spools while reloading their Zorkis. It hasn't happened to me, but I could see how it might. There is a website with instructions on how to convert the plastic spool from a standard 35mm film cassette into a FSU camera takeup spool. Unfortunately, I can't remember the link. Maybe some other rff member could post it here.

I think Mike Elek's method only works for spools used in the Kiev (or Contax) bodies.

My zorki 4 spool also slipped when I first got it. I compared it with one from a zorki 3m and noticed a difference: the correct spool has a dimple which catches one of the buttresses on the spindle. So, I drilled a small hole at abou t the same distance from the end and inserted a small set screw. Seems to work fine now.

I had the same observation as 2maneekameras that the zorki 4 take-up spool seems to be different from all of my other spools (Fed, zorki 1).

I tried a bare spool (has a clip) with my kiev 5. It did not work out even after I tighened the screw for the drive for hooking up the take-up spool. Later on, I used a cartridge. I found the film (through the slot) must be folded on the both side of the slot along the axis of the spool to cause no extra tension during winding.
