Someone has even congratulated him on his photo's of a Zorki 1 and he has added the question, and his response, to the listing!

I have never heard of a Tanack but if it's a Leica copy why would they choose to copy the Zorki rather than the real Leica? That alone makes me suspicious!

The Tanack was a japanese Leica copy of the 1950s, somewhat 2nd class to other japanese Leica copies of the period like Leotax and Nicca , but still miles ahead of any soviet product.
Nowdays these real japanese copies can bring in more money than a real Leica.
The russian and ukrainian fakers roughly fake the japanese copies from Zorki 1 and Fed 1 cameras and sell them as Leica copies, which technically is correct because the Zorki 1 and Fed 1 are such copies also.
But it is a play on words to mislead an unsuspecting potential buyer who is thinking it is a high quality, highly collectable japanese or english (Reid) Leica copy.

I've even seen a Zorki engraved as a Foca PF2, does'nt even look vaguely the same.
But some people still buy them. Old story "if it looks too good to be true, then it IS too good to be true "
We had a guy aproach our camera club for a valuation of a Leica LUXUS, there are three very experienced Leica collectors there, but when it was explained thoroughly why it was a fake, he called them all the idiots under the sun. A solicitor in the club warned him that if he now sold it as a "LUXUS" after being given this info, he could be prosecuted. The club then got a letter from his solicitor, however after it was explained to him he advised his client to accept he had been "done" and learn the lesson.
