Well if this is true.. A eos-m replacement and a new advance body, Canon looks like it has gotten serious. I wonder if they will also go into the pocketable apsc market. Things are definitely heating up.

IF this is true and Canon is getting serious about this space, then I expect Nikon rumors will start circulating soon.

Fun times
... My gas attack went to Ricoh grd. But also waiting for xp2 announcement. Will be interesting to c/ how my friends w/ canon dslr think about this. One was originally thinking about getting the eos-m for his GF, until he starting seeing the test reports.

if this is true, might be worth a gamble to get an EOS-M kit now just to get a good price on the 22mm f2

Wake me up when it's confirmed they put a decent EVF into it.

I personally find Canonrumors to be a bit on the unreliable side, as they choose to publish the "CR1" rumors, which have a history of being mostly real rumors that were both unverified and never fulfilled.
Canon does need seriously to hop on the mirrorless train, though. The new models might just be upgrades with better performance.

'gotten serious'....sounds more like Canon is planning to catch up with where everyone else in mirrorless was a year or two ago.

The current lens lineup is poor compared to almost every other EVIL system. NEX now has the speed booster which will no doubt play better with canon lens than the EOS-M.
It's nice to see more competition, but 2 new bodies aren't going to help much.

Maybe in 5-10 years I will consider an EVF. The crap built today is just a bad joke.

Well, the digital life cycle would make it logical that a new model would appear soon. Of course, if sales sucked with the first model, it wouldn't make sense for Canon to release two models. But hey, if it's a rumor, anything is plausible because you don't need to back it up with facts.

The digital consumer photography market is rapidly changing since smart phones came out.
It has had an effect on P&S and other consumer cameras.
Even the pro market has changed with changes now being incremental and the need to have the newest is questioned by many pros. The people who feel they need the latest gizmo, I find many have a day job other than photography.

The best camera is one that still works!

I thought the EVF on my OMD was very good in the brief time I owned it ... didn't like the one on the X100 much though.

And the one in my NEX-7 is very usable. Could it be better? Yes - but don't forget all OVFs aren't Leica M quality either.

Which ones have you used?
NEX 6, 7, OM-D, X-E1, X100S, all are generally rated very highly.

Yes, some are better.

I owned the X100 longer and used the OM-D, Nex-7, and this Sony 99, for up to a day. In daylight they are quite good, but when it's getting darker I really dislike this flickering TV and when photgraphing people I have problems seeing the facial expression of a person. Here, I don't see enough details.
Today I prefer the viewfinders of a Leica or my 5D or even the old EOS 3 SLR. I believe somewhere in the future the EVF will reach a quality level that even I can live with it

Nikon and Canon have their heads up their respective (each other's?) a$$es. The mirrorless ILC train left long ago. I'm pretty sure I will never buy a brand new Nikon ever again, such was my heart disappointed at the J1s/V1s betrayal.
If neither company is willing to butcher their own entry-level DSLR sales, Fujifilm and Olympus are both happy to do so. I hope they continue to crucify them for their pathetic attempts at trying to avoid the market moving on.
