Love the Texture / M9+ASPH 'lux

I've had the camera for 6 days now, and I love the black and white images that I am getting out of this camera. It blows away the R-D1 and my Canon setup. I love that it is full frame, love the image quality, and overall its form factor and simplicity. I give the nod to the R-D1's analog dial for ISO & setting display, but am satisfied with the simple menus. Clearly someone in Solms realized that less is more and avoided "death by submenu".

For me, the benefit of the M9 is the versatility. It is always with me, I can take the landscape shots when they present themselves. At the same time, I can hook up a cybersync and use it to remotely trigger my strobes.

Here are some shots I grabbed when I took a quick detour during my evening commute. The camera is always with me these days. All were taken with a 50mm ASPH Summilux.

For kicks I setup a beauty dish and triggered it via a Cybersync to take a few snapshots of my youngest son. The resolution and detail captured are amazing.

...... well that 50 Asph Lux is no slouch either. Admittedly, the resolution of the M9 is better/higher than the M8 or RD1s. However, if we put the 50 Asph Lux on the RD1s at 200 ISO, I bet the RD1s would actually hold its own.
Great shots, I think the first and last shots really exemplify what this kit is capable of.
 
These two bits of kit are the stars of the long running Leica M post your portraits thread. That shot of your son turned to the right showing his magnificent head of curls is brilliant.
 
Leica should give you a 35 ASPH because you just sold a dozen M9s with this post.... great work, excellent processing and control.
 
As others have said, beautiful shots. Can you share with us some of the details of processing? Jpegs only? RAW to B&W...how? Etc., etc.

Very nice work. I envy your processing skills more than your kit. Agree fully with Fv2, Leica owes you a favor back. You've just moved the bar higher for casual posting... Great looking kid too, I'm sure you're a proud papa :D

The post-processing was surprisingly minimal. I shoot DNG (uncompressed) + JPEG, but for some reason the B&W JPEGs never get imported into Lightroom. I ended using one of the B&W pre-baked conversions in Lightroom (Look 2 or 4 I believe). The images are really nice straight out of the camera with no processing, but I'm more of a B&W kinda guy.
