.... it feels like a Leica, like solid precision

.... it is almost as quiet as a Leica. Might actually be quieter than my M9

.... it is like having 2 cameras in one. Don't have a pana scene, well, just flip a switch and the camera is a standard 35mm camera.

While I love mine, I'm not sure I wouldn't compare it mechanically (solid precision) to my MP. My mode dial is pretty stiff (S,C,timer) and the rf alignment is a bear to adjust, even for my Leica tech. Of course, there is no other camera that can do what the Xpan can do in it's size of course.

Always wanted to try one, but those Sloooow and Expensiveeeee lenses just keep me away from it. I was hoping that Cosina will make one that would be cheaper. And me too - would love to see some pics from it!

I also love the xpan, but, whenever I go from my leica to the xpan, it takes me forever to "see" in xpan format...

I can switch between my Leica M9 and the XPan pretty easily. Best of both digital and film worlds :) The nice thing is a kit with two camera systems is still smaller most single dSLR kit with a couple zooms!

p.s. there are a zillion XPan photos on the other thread.

Hmmm. Adjusting infinity is dead simple - through a hole exposed by removing the flash shoe.

Okay, adjusting vertical is harder, because the adjustment wheel is vertical. But popping the top cover is dead simple on the XPan. All the screws are easy to access.

YMMV

I've had an XPan for about 5 years now. Its absolutely fantastic -- the design is inspired, not just solidly and dependably made but the simple switch from regular to panoramic mode (at anytime) is brilliant.

The lenses are probably my favorite part, though. I've never had a problem with f/4 and I especially don't have a problem with the amazing sharpness of them. I have the 45 and the 90 and I never fail to be bowled over by how sharp and contrasty my negs are.

from what I was told, Hasselblad/Fuji locked down the adjustment screws with something tough to remove and there was also something about the flex circuit boards being in a vulnerable place=if it busts, yer pooched. This is coming from someone who knows their way around M guts blindfolded ;)

btw, would love to get a 30 for the Xpan but the wallet is not agreeing with that expenditure ;)
