Hello!

Which would be the lowest profile M39 ukrainian RF after removing the entire RF assembly, better said the entire top?

I got a CZJ Flektogon 20 mm in M42 and intend to adapt it to a LTM body, but as I guess the lens couldn't drive the RF cam anyway I can remove the entire top of the camera and do either by scale focusing or attaching an uncoupled RF.
(So to say a poor mans Bessa.)

Zorki-1 or FED-1 was also my first guess, but I haven't one that I would sacrifice.
What projekt are you bouilding out of yours?

Ofcourse best would be a Zarya if I could get one and even better if I could replace his finder with somehting fitting the angle of view of 20 mm and then just put a Blik or Voigtländer RF in the accesory shoe.

How much hacksawing do you want to do? I see two basic options. One is getting a Zorki-1 (cheap) and taking off the rangefinder assembly, replacing it with a flat top plate with two accessory shoes à la Leica I. You will need to improvise with the top plate a little bit to cover the assembly underneath the speed wheel. The other option is getting a Zarya and putting in one of those wideangle viewfinders they put in doors. Projection is circular on those, it would take a little getting used to, but it's doable.

If anything you'd be in the tradition of Vilhelms Mihajlovskis, a Lithuanian photographer who did great wideangle street shots with a Zorki and a 20mm lens in the late 70s and early 80s. (He also did amazing portraits.)

EDIT: Incidentally, are you still interested in the Minolta I have lying around?

Good idea with the wide angle wievfinder. I will looka around for one that is little enough to fit. (And perhaps don't distort too much.)

Wrote you a PM about the Minolta. Yes I am still interested.

Great idea! Konica has this Waiwai disposable camera with a 17mm lens, maybe the viewfinder elements would even fit in a Zarya. ;)
