How difficult would it be to get to the helicoid of my Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 non AI lens? Anyone do this? I contacted Youxin Ye and thinks he can do it. I might send it to him.

The lens works fine other than the squeaky focusing.

I'm sending it to Youxin Ye. Yesterday I looked at several videos and decided I should send it to someone who would have the tools, not to mention the right lube for lens.

YY "Thinks" he can do it!!! either the self proclaimed "Leica" only specialist knows if he can or can't...he is a great Leica repair guy, and a some Zeiss stuff..
I'd send it somewhere else, to a repair shop who knows they can give it a lube job.

I sent him a 1953 J9 for a simple CLA and said the same thing to me!
He totally messed up it putting back together. (I even sent him a paper on giving the lens a CLA in a Kiev mount)
My local guy in Avon, IN was able to take it apart and put it back the right way. Bob at www.camerarepairs.com
And Bob has worked on Nikon since the early 1970's.... Nikon F and F2 at the time along with those N/Ai lenses!

BTW, I send Bob a Nikon 24mm f/2.8 Ais and a Nikkor S 50mm f1.4 N/Ai for a CLA, and he did a great job!
He now has a Nikon FE for an advance lever repair, and in a week or so, Bob will get my F2 to work on... sticky mirror from f/4 and wider.
I bought both Nikon bodies that had known repair issues for cheap.

YY has done great work on several of my Leicas over the years. I agree, the "might" is asking a lot.

I sent a request for an estimate to camerarepairs. Thanks for the link.
