I'm just curious whether anyone has tried the adapter for R lenses on the Leica M10 (or other digital M's)? I've not seen much on this. Leica has an R adapter, but so also does Novoflex... and I've had great experience with Novoflex (and Metabones) adapters over the years. Just curious. Thanks!

I have the R to M adapter by Leica. I was considering the the Novoflex adapter, but found a demo Leica adapter at a discounted price, so went with that one. I use it with a Leica R 80-200 f4 telephoto zoom on the 240 MP with Live View function and focus assist. Both the Leica and Novoflex R-to-M adapters will allow the camera to detect 20 of the more commonly used R lenses on the M 240 cameras, and I would guess it does so on the M10. The Leica adapter also comes with a removable tripod mount on the adapter for long lenses. Novoflex makes a separate tripod mount for their adapters.

I have the Leica R Adapter M and have used it to work with R lenses on both the Leica M-P typ 240 and SL typ 601 (in the latter case, stacked on top of the M Adapter L). It is an excellent adapter and works very well on both cameras. Its limitations are a result of the M's small lens mount diameter: it will show some vignetting with extreme wide angle R lenses (19mm and shorter), with extremely long R lenses (some 250mm and longer lenses), and when using tubes or bellows extension for high magnification (I see it with the Summicron-R 50mm at 2:1 or greater magnification).

(On the SL, the R Adapter SL and Novoflex LET/LER adapters do not vignette ... the R lens mount inside diameter is a full 49mm diameter where the M mount inside diameter is a full 10mm smaller. Both these mount adapters maintain the full inside throat diamter, but in this case the Novoflex one does not have the electronics required to bring up the SL's R lens profiles.)

The M with a Visoflex EVF and the R Adapter M works well for occasional use of an R lens to extend the M's range. Ergonomically, it's a little clumsy in the hand and there is a lot of lag associated with running the M in Live View mode (less on the M10 than on the M/M-P typ 240 or MM typ 246). Once I had the SL, I never fitted the adapter to the M-P again.
