Well-known
My ASdee makes the M 8 almost uniquely '' real'' and my pis with the Voight 35 / F 2.5 are simply breathtaking .
But , I wanted a DSLR , but deespaired of any camera which created a similsr magic to the M 8 .
I now have one - the Leica Digilux 3 , and what seems to be an unused Panasonic L 1 body .
There is no menu to change from programme to aperture priorty / shutter priority .
For programme set lense and shutter to ' A "' , shutter at '' A '' = aperture priority ., aperture at "" A "= shutter priority .
MAGIC ! Take lense and shutter off '' A '' and you have control !
Images on screen are much more like my M 8 , than those of the Pentax K 10 D , but , to be fair , thy come up a lot better on the mac .
The viewfinder has a small image , rather reminiscent of my Leica II- so much for progress !
As it takes care of the metering and focusing , i am investing in a separate 50mm finder , so I don't get eye strain with continuos shooting .
Yes , they are big and boxy , they do betray Leica's policy of compactness , buy , by DSLR standards , the build quality is just georgeous in real metal , undisguised by plastic looking coatings or ABS shells .
And they do handle great - if a 70s box SLR is your history .
And the pixels ? I love the image quality , I don't need massive prints , the lnse covers most of my needs ...
I no longer worry about pixels , the best , just taking photos .
It's as near to a Rangefinder with lazy auto everything zoom , as I can get !
And the spare L 1 body ? - that's to be fitted with a Minolta mount just to take my Rokkors - it cost me just £250 , which I deem to be an inexpensive way of revitalising redundant lenses .
BY all means relocate this to Evil SLRS , the reason it's posted here is to show that an M 8 can be the pattern for an SLR which redefines the nature of the beast , which , for me , co'exists seemlessly .
