Occasionally I have seen online beater M3s with the baseplate key hanging loose out of its recess. My M2, only 55 years old, is tight to specification everywhere, including the baseplate locking key. To my horror my not much more than one year old M9-P's baseplate key was hanging loose. I could not see where it could be tightened. But my expert adviser in Melbourne where I bought the camera knew his stuff and pointed out a tiny screw in the hinge axis, barely accessible to the eye, and not at all, fortunately, to any normal tool. In a couple of days it was back from the official repairer, better than new and feeling like my M2 baseplate. It's a little thing, but it had annoyed me, prevented me from putting the camera down flat in a hurry, and probably posed a risk of me shearing it off some time. I'm happy. Thanks Lachie.

The same thing happened to the ring of my M9 handgrip. My local technician did it while I was waiting, and free of charge! :)
