When I wind the shutter I notice a squeaky noise. The level of noise is affected by how fast I wind the camera, slow action little to no noise, fast winding louder squeaky noise.

Out of curiosity I took the bottom plate off and didn't hear the noise. I take out the film take up spool, put the bottom plate back with no squeaky noise either. I take it the film spool is the culprit behind this noise.

Now the question is whether this warrants a trip to the technician? I've run a few rolls of film through this and everything checks out. The squeak worried me at first until I pinpointed it to the spool. If a noise exists does it mean two or more components are rubbing against each other causing wear?

try this,
take out spool and get some machine oil on a cloth, wipe the bottom of spool with the oiled cloth and then do the same with the bottom plate where it contacts with the spool. It's only a wipe, no pouring, spraying or otherwise! This stopped mine doing it! annoying isn't it!!!!

CLA means clean lube and adjust. Sounds like you need just an L, but a C&A couldn't hurt, eh?

ps, how old is your camera, and how long since it's been serviced? I feel pretty confident of my M4-P and OM-1n (both have been CLA'd in the last 2 years, and I expect that to last 10 more years), but my Nlkon FG and F5 have been neglected for a few (>5) years. It's time I reckon. Nikons need more frequent service than most other cameras, cause they're all technical.

pps, the F5 checks itself, and will just quit on me if it's out of tolerance! I dunno how I would take that!

Mine had that problem, up until I sent it to DAG to have something else repaired. He fixed it, whatever it was, in the course of fixing the rangefinder arm, sans CLA. Sorry this isn't of help, Don said my m2 was 'too dry' so he lubed it gratis, perhaps dryness is the culprit.
