One more question. Where is a good place to get a leather half case for an M3. I got one from Leicatime a couple of years ago off of ebay, I think? Just show me why you got and post a link....

I just purchase a Leica ever-ready case in good condition from eBay. Lots of times they go under the bidding radar and you can pick one up for around $10 plus shipping. I get the type that has the top cover sewn to the bottom of the case and not the type that is connected by a rivet. Using a seam ripper (sewing tool), I carefully remove the top half from the bottom half. Use some Lexan to condition the leather and strap. Voila, you have a genuine Leica Wetzlar half case. I like the idea of having the strap connected to the case rather than to the lugs of the camera body.

You need to be carful to get a case with a good strap. I have learned enough leather craft to replace worn or missing straps myself. If you want me to replace a case strap for you, just send me the case, (USA only), and I will replace it with a closely matching supple cowhide strap using your origonal buckle or a replacement if corroded or missing. Cost is $25 including USPS Priority Mail shipping back to you. As you can see, I'm not trying to make any money. Just some Hawaiian aloha. PM me if interested, cosmonaut.
