I'm thinking about getting a PM1 or P3 with a 20mm f1.7 lens (that I will be borrowing). I have no real experience with digital cameras or flash but this is for snapshots so I think that in low light situations flash would be useful (you know, for those family group pictures).

Any samples of oncamera flash on M43 cameras (P3 preferably)? What about a small inexpensive external flash?

I'm mostly trying to figure out how good/bad on-camera and small external flashes are. Not sure if I'm better off with the in-camera P3 flash, adding a small external, or just forgetting about flash entirely.

Again, I'm not really into flash but this is for snapshots where I might need that extra bit of light.

The most important thing is being able take good looking flash photos is the ability to bounce the flash for more natural shots. A small direct flash will not be that much different than the built in one, or the clip on one with the E-PM1.

Sometimes you need flash, so you either live with the built in one or get a better bounce unit. I use an old Sunpak 383 with my Pen, really like it. Don't know anything about the current dedicated ones.

There's a mail in rebate that just started on the FL-300 and Fl-600 flashes btw. (when you buy them w/ camera kit). The FL-300 fits in your pocket, does a little bit of bounce, and you can use it TTL off camera by triggering it w/ the little flash that comes w/ the PEN. (or the built in on the e-p3)
