in the next few weeks panasonic is to announce either the new lx4 or a new smaller m43 camera to rival the ep1... some speculate that the 20mm f1.4 will be bundled with this new compact m43 camera... possibly thinner in size because it will lack inbody IS, same functions as the G1/GH1
black anyone?

We're all light!
Hey, for me, it's All About the Viewfinder. They could upstage Olympus at this point. We'll see.

For me it is about the 20/1.7.
Unfortunately Panasonic can't produce enough stock to sell there things through the normal channels (B&H for instance rearly has the LX3 and can't spell GH1) so I hope they can produce enough lenses to sell to everyone.

Yesterday, the rumours of a new GRD, today the panny rumours. It is truly better to travel hopefully than it is to arrive.

The rumor mill and supposed game plan
The rumor mill and supposed game plan
Since some time before the runup to the EP-1, it's been anticipated that the intro of the EP-1 would precede the intro of a competing Panasonic. I suspect, until we see hard evidence, that since the EP-1 has IS, the Panny may also. Maybe not.
And as a followup, anticipation is high that that Olympus has been planning two Micro 4/3rd camera bodies this year... The EP-1, and in the Fall or early Winter, a body to align alongside the G1/GH1. No doubt with IS, and surely they won't pass the opportunity to fulfill the viewfinder desire that is rampant.
This is pretty standard stuff at www.fourthirdsphoto.com and other 4/3rds sites.

To confirm that historically (since 2004) panasonic has consistently announced new product releases around July 20th

A dealer let slip something was coming in the next four months, then said they weren't supposed to talk about it.
The Samsung NX announcement I'd heard rumoured in July was an announcement for something else. If it has a good lens or can take adaptors, it'd be a contender.
Still want something the size of the Olympus but at the price of the Panasonic.
Either cam with the kit zoom lens isn't that much smaller than my Nikon F3 with a 24mm lens - put them side by side in the shop today. Was a bit surprised.
