Hi all --
I recently acquired a chrome M5, including chrome advance lever and hotshoe. But I've also seen pics of chrome M5 bodies with black advance levers and black hotshoes. You can see one here:

Is this stock? Or did the owner get these black parts from other M bodies? Because it sure looks sexy!!!

Later production chrome camera did change the front levers from chrome to black (and the black plastic tab inserts style changed too). Probably easier for Leica to standardize on those parts since the black on vulcanite looked OK. But the black hot-shoe and advance would have been spare parts added after production.

I had not seen the M5 in the classifieds... so this would not be the correct serial number... as the serial number is on the hot shoe.

My silver M5 (135*****) has the same color, e.g. black advance levers and black hotshoe, as the one shown in the video.
I believe it's original.

The seller, Vikko, of the 'Panda' M5 for sale in the classifieds, just replied... 'this is originally black M5, and had a chrome top cover installed'.... I am definitely not an expert on these things. So I do know if any M5's were made this way or not. I do like the look of the 'Panda'... bit of a silly name... I think.
