Out with my M6 classic yesterday.. noticed meter was off-- F8 in bright sun etc.. I don't think it's a battery issue as the meter is operating fine just giving me readings that indicate I am in much lower light than it should. I tested it against the meter on digital nikon and it confirmed 3 to 4 stop difference. Any quick troubleshooting before I bring it in?

As the 'obvious' check you could give the contacts in the battery compartment a clean and put in a fresh battery. Secondly, operate the film-speed dial throughout it's range a good number of times, in case that became a bit gunged up - also the contacts between the door and the body could be cleaned. Clutching at straws a bit, but you never know.

I have the same problem but mine tends to overexpose by 4-5 stops. I found the problem which is with the backdoor. I have to push it in order for it to get in contact with the body circuit (pardon me if I'm wrong, I don't know what it's called).
It really troubles me because I have to do extra work before I'm actually able to shoot which costs me time. I have wiped the contacts but it doesnt fix it. Do you guys think I should also bring it in for repairs?

The obvious fix turned out to be the correct fix.. Went out and bought new batteries and the meter is working fine.. Strange that the meter would appear to to work with no signs of dimming etc.. Previously when my batteries went low the meter just stopped working altogether.. In any case all fine.. thanks..
