I am just wondering, those of you who have the 35mm Nokton f1.2 and have the M8, M9 or both, How sharp is this lens wide open at f1.2? How do you like the bokeh? How well does it control flare? How many of you also have the Noctilux f1.0 (I do) and how does this lens compare?

I would like to see some samples with sections of detail blown up to see what the Nokton can do on the M8 and M9.

I currently have the M8, although sometime next year, the M9 will be in my my hands when and if I have he money.

For the price the Nokton seems like a good buy when compared to Leica offerings of similar focal length and f stop.

Hello, I'll post some 100% crops from my M8.2 and Nokton, but I have to say that it is my favorite lens with the M8 and it has no flare to speak of. It doesn't have any quirky characteristics, like fuky OOF areas, so it is not a lens you need to really get to know before getting the best out of. If you can look beyond its size, it's a must have for the M8.
Andrew.

My friend has this lens and i tried it on my m9. Very nice results easy to focus and pretty sharp. My only turn off was the size and I already have the 35 summilux asph which is all I need.

Here is a gallery of photos shot with the M8 and CV 35/1.2 on New Year's Eve.

Most were taken at f/1.4. f/1.2 is not much different.

I really like this lens, as it has both modern and "classic" characteristics. Its bokeh is not harsh and wiry like the Leica ASPH lenses, but it is quite sharp. Not knife-cutting scary sharp like the Leica 35/1.4 Summilux, but sharp enough. And for practical purposes, it doesn't focus shift when stopping down.

It can get veiling flare and some purple fringing when you have bright sky against tree branches, so it is not as good a bright-light outdoor lens as say, a 35 Summicron or CV 35/2.5. Pairing the 35/1.2 with one of the above lenses is a good combination.
