I was very happy to finally get my hands on a charger for my M8 battery that was smaller than the camera itself - a boon for traveling. I charged up both of my batteries and headed out for a vacation, taking my newly shrunken charger with me. Lo and behold, the first time I tried to recharge one of the batteries the charger would sit there blinking both lights at me and simply not charge the battery. The other battery would charge just fine. No biggie, I must have a dud battery I think.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and I try the apparently "dud" battery in my old suitcase-size charger and it charges just fine first time.
So what happened here? One battery just likes larger chargers (OK, I have to say it, maybe size is important after all) or is there a difference in the capabilities of the chargers?
Answers on a postcard please.

I don't know if this will help, but I have noticed an anomaly with the old large charger which may also apply to the new one.
Quite often a discharged battery would not start to charge. I'd have to insert it into the charger and remove it several times over before it would charge normally. This was with any one of six genuine Leica batteries and two old style chargers. I then discovered if I inserted the battery into the charger without the charger connected to the mains supply and then connected the charger to the mains the battery would always charge. This was true even with fully charged batteries, those would charge for a few minutes and then indicate fully charged.
ETA: I assume both your batteries are genuine Leica and not eBay sourced etc. Some of those are known to have inconsistent charger/camera charge state indicator performance.
Bob.

Ditto. I made the same discovery with my original large charger.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both batteries and chargers are bought from Leica resellers and definitely the real deal. I'll try one of my discharged batteries tonight and see what happens. Reports on this forum later.
