Today's blog entry includes an unscientific test of 3 cameras/formats with 1250-1600 iso black and white: Fuji X100 with equiv 35mm lens @ 1600 iso, M8.2 with 28mm summicron (27mm equiv) and 1250 iso and a Zeiss Ikon, 35mm biogon and gold old fashioned neopan 1600.

Rangefinder Chronicles: Comparing 3 cameras at black and white high iso

Contrary to my expectations (I love the M8.2, but never liked its high ISOs and this was one reason I got the X100 - for high iso work) I thought the M8 did best overall. Although I think the X100 will do better at high iso in colour (judging from the 3200 iso colour shots I have taken elsewhere). Glad the M8.2 can be such a good tool for b&w high iso. And I still love film though.

But for commentary please check the blog

And please don't tell me it is not a perfect scientific test, it's not meant to be. Rather it is a, what's good for a user test.
