The fourth one is quite good. But I think I can see some fringing where the building on the left meets the sky.

sample 4 35 summilux pre-asph

So how long have you had a thing for old ladies in beige coats? Enquiring minds need to know :D. I hope it's not another M8 side effect

Am I crazy or does the colouring of the M8 remind anyone else of the colours of late-60s / early-70s films? Maybe it's just that I watched Charade and Wait Until Dark this weekend...

I like the colours; they look natural to me, and it seems to be overcast to partially sunny/shady, so that likely has an effect. My impression of the 3rd colour shot is that there is really good shadow detail and dynamic range.

The b&w are nice, but I think a prefer the colour of what has been posted.

I don't know guys...all that magenta blacks, and banding, and green spots, and....! Sorry, couldn't help myself there. Those are superb creamy colors and good B&Ws. I think HCB would be proud, and not spinning in his grave, if he had an M8.
Might want to sell the thing to me J. I'm waiting on Popflash to call. But maybe everyone is laying low right now! More pictures please!

Hm, after the the headline I was expecting something more literal... like this, maybe:

The lenses may play a rol here: they are essentailly both designs from that period, not sure.
It's of course up to personal taste but with all lenses the M8 offers some beautiful colors in my opinion!

Thanks Trius .. the B&W's are indeed flat picures, taken in flat lighting without any specific or dramatic processing. But there is a lot of potental there if you ask me ....
B&W looks better at higher ISO in my opinion: picture 2,3 @4 for instance was iso 1250.

I am selling nothing and would buy again tomorrow without hesitation :)
Even if this is it and Leica comes with nothing to follow it up it is here to stay...... a firmware update to fix the banding would be nice though.

The B&W shots are quite nice. Makes you wonder how good a monochrome M8/M9? could be.

While I do think the look of Leica is coming through on these shots, nice tones, contrast and color, when looking at them, I still felt as though something was missing.

I know what it is however.

The peripherial bokeh or outer signature of the lenses, something I really enjoy about my Leica M optics, has been cropped out by the reduced size sensor.

I would miss that too much from my style of shooting I think.

Nice images though, thanks!
