Hi guys. I've had my M8 for 6 years now and its finally showing some signs of its age. The rangefinder is ever so slightly out of alignment and the battery isn't keeping its charge anymore. Anyone has any recommendations on who to send it to for RF calibration and where i can get a reliable new battery (or refresh the old one!). The usual online buggers don't seem to have stock. Or am destined to visit the leica boutique in mayfair?

I dont own a digital leica but i know the guys at Aperture near British Museum can fix up the RF while you have a coffee there. Battery wise, i thought it's the same as the M9 battery and should be available everywhere (even online). Better to get a new one.

M8 and M9 batteries are exactly the same. I use a combination of OEM and off brand, knowing that the off brand will eventually fail, and they do!

RG Lewis carry 'opened but new' m8 or m9 batteries. 40 quid I think. I've bought from them, work like originals.
And Aperture Photographic in Rathbone Place are brilliant for repairs and lovely.

The batteries are a Leica catalog item and will remain so for many years. Order them through any Leica dealer. Any competent repairman can adjust your rangefinder, in fact quite a few owners do so themselves. For fast, competent and reasonably priced service I would recommend Will van Manen in the Netherlands. UPS is your friend
