I just wondered how many M8 users on this forum own Russian lenses and were able to compare them to their German and Japanese counterparts. I own a Industar 61 LD, a Jupiter 9, and a Jupiter 8. All are decent lenses. The 61 LD is so sharp, I have held off buying a Leica Lens in that focal length (I do want a Noctilux though).

I own Jupiter 3-8-9 but only use the 50mm Jupiter 8 on the M8. Great colors and as it is a focal I don't use much, it is not worth investing in Leica.
I also have an Industar-69 which is 28mm. At F4, it is one of my sharpest, lens believe it or not. yet it is not rangefinder coupled and the built is horrible (FOV does not match framelines very well), I use when I went to do special effect as corners are very soft and colors from other times ...

Having run through all my Russian lenses , one Fed collapsible '' Tessar '' is streets ahead of all the others - it's '' bright / clean / sharp '' and has a great feel to it .
I also have an excellent I 22 rigid , a rare lense , which has a differrent feel , but takes fine pictures .
My two late , black , J 8s are ... acceptable , but seem to have kind of fussy background .
i have a Cv 50 f2.5 color scopar , but also use my Summitar , so I actually like the vintage look .

I have a few, but the only one I have been really using is the J8.

I use the J12 alot. While it is slower than the several other 35's I use (35 Summicrons, old and new Luxes, Nikkor 35/1.8 in SM) its colors are deeply saturated and satisfying. I have even managed to cobble together a mount to put an IR cut filter on it since I don't own one in 40.5mm size.
