Just a quick question. Not saying I have an M8 although would love one. The question is:

M8's have a smaller than full frame sensor (I believe) so what I am wondering is if the modified the frame lines in it. Because a 50mm would no longer be a 50 it would be something like a 60? (not sure..) but then again.. would they feel the need to mod it?

Just something I've been wondering.

The framelines are modified for the 1.33x crop factor of the sensor. The 50mm framelines are smaller in the M8 than they are in an M9 or any of the film Leica's with 0.72x or 0.92x finders. They are quite usable, and you can always add a 1.25x magnifying eyepiece. I keep one on my M8, it is an "aftermarket" eyepiece, available on EBay for under $100.

You may not have access to a M8 but do you have access to any digital SLR's? Most are not full frame yet and can give you a better understanding of how many digital SLR cameras work now. Also DP Review is a great resource for understanding these concepts. Good Luck!

Yes I have access to DSLR's and understand how they work with MF/FX lenses. But as a rangefinder doesn't see through the lense I was wondering if they had took that into account in the VF

it would be pretty poor for a camera costing so much that you had to guess the field of view, bit of a step backwards in photography!
