May 31: M8 won't capture images and goes in for warrantee repair.
July 1: M8 comes back and works perfectly. No alignment issues with the rangefinder.

I was really worried this would turn out to be a mess after reading stories in the forums. But the turn around time from Leica here is really quite good I think. Hopefully "repair circuit board / upgrade to current standard" means that they won't be seeing it ever again.

Mine went in on a June 7 for an issue with sudden freezes. They gave me an e estimate of 2-4 weeks. Hopefully this means the return is just around the corner.

Brian, that is encouraging, isn't it? The one I got in January was a "demo" but there are so many "demos" on the market I suspect it's actually a refurb (which would be better I think, having been serviced). Anyway, it's been just fine, and performed well on a recent 18-day overseas trip. Hope you'll enjoy it and post some pics. :)

"Repair circuit board/upgrade to current standard" means they put in another circuit board, that's all.

For an amateur one month is OK, not really good but not too bad either. OK, in your case it included shipping around half the globe. But to be honest for a professional camera a warranty plan with 1-month turnarounds seems rather unimpressive, unless they give you a loan camera or something to cover the meantime.

Mine had had a slightly off rangefinder since day 1. I've learned to compensate. And i barely use it anyway. But I figure I'll send it in for the silent shutter upgrade at some point and get it taken care of.
