M8 wit 35mm summilux

Has anyone tried shooting on the M8 with the lens above? It's a problem, images are awfully out of focus, nothing sharp. At least in the dark.

did you check your focus for front/back focus issues?
its a great lens to use on the M8 and many will tell you its the best all around lens

I own the pre aspheric version and have had no issues with it on my M8. It is not as sharp as the aspheric and has more edge falloff wide open but stop it down 2 stops and hyperfocal focus it and it really starts to sharpen up and by 5.6 and F8 it is amazingly sharp. I use a Lee IR filter on mine and get a film IR look from it. In all my years of photography (53) I've never heard of front and back focus issues like I have since the M8 came out. I've yet to experience the problem with any of my lens combinations (15,21,28,35,50 and 90) on my M8 and in 16 years of retail sales have never had a customer come back with a camera and lens and complain about either problem. I'm not sure what is causing this anomaly but I certainly would like to read more about it if anyone has any links discussing it.

The thing is, the lens should be pin sharp at wide open on the M8, or any other M (which it is), but when you use it in the dark, as in, what it is designed for, it sucks.

if it focuses sharp at wide open, it wouldn't matter light or dark. i find rangefinder focusing highly accurate and easy to do in dark. maybe its the eyes that need checking rather than the camera
