Purchased from the classifieds here a couple of weeks ago. Chromed aluminum, 1974, very similar to an '80s J8 design and size. User condition, aperture ring is a bit loose, some cleaning marks, focus ring is OK but could use a lube.

The 1.5 isn't 1.4 by 1/3rd stop, but is 2/3rds stop faster than f2 lens. In some cases, very mild distortion seen.

Used with a BW UV/IR filter, then 3rd party hood.

Yes, it's a great lens. I have to do more tests to verify the focusing accuracy and shift, but seems good so far. Some of the bokeh lines do remind me of the lux, but there's also some swirl present, unique to Sonnars. The lux is a tad faster, less distortion, but also a larger and heaver, and much more expensive.

Yes Russ, yours definitely is optimized! Thanks for all the comments. Does anyone else with a J3 also get the distortion I'm getting here? It's not too bad, I have other good lenses (Hexar AFs, some Nikkor SLR lens) that probably distort as much, just curious.
