Decided to dedicate one lens to a single body for a whole month. Some shots of the Canon 50 f1.2 on M9. I'm a big fan of the bokeh.

I like the 50 1.2, but don't shoot it much at 1.2. The DOF is so narrow at closer distances, I miss too many shots with it wide open. Definitely a lens for younger eyes than mine.

Great shots. Looking forward to seeing more stuff from you with this combo, and also seeing more than my first roll from my 50/1.2

Haha.. I use a 1.25x magnifier to help with focusing. Once calibrated, this lens is not that soft wide-open. And Yes, it's tough trying to focus on my running daughter.

This is my favourite lens. I bought it from classifieds last spring. I almost sold it until I find its fantastic way of doing close-ups of flower pictures. Here is on sample with M8:

I especially like the Yearning for Home photograph; I think it best utilizes the lens' unique character.

I do like this lens n has never tempted to sell it. My favourite lens is actually the canon sonnar 50 1.5. Will try to post some pics of that lens on M9 for comparison next time. The canon 35 2.0 is also amazing and was nicked the Japanese bokeh king. Go to my flickr for shots of my canon sonnar shots previously with films n M8.

Hey Dave,
Nice shots.
Been considering this lens for a while, but wondering if you have compared it with FL/FD mount like Canon 55mm f1.2 by any chance?
May i also know what is the MFD for this lens? Should be around 1m as well?

Minimum focus on my Canon 50/1.2 in LTM is 3ft. The Canon 50/1.4 is 3.5ft.

Never compare against the FD/FL lenses before. Yes, it's a LTM mount so 1m focusing distance.
No need to compare lah. Just find one and try it out.
Btw, most copies are soft with shoot wide-open. My copy was soft when I first had it. It developed some haze after awhile so I had it cleaned and in the process seems to be calibrated. It's considerably sharper now.
Mine is less than perfect...

I have a 50mm F2.8 V1 Elmar, and 50mm F2 V1 Summicron, but I will never sell my Canon 50mm F1.2 and I use it more than the other two. Mine is very sharp in the center, sharp enough at the edges for my uses. I seldom use it other than at F1.2, generally in lower light.
