Today I received an invitation to a "Leica Premiere Event" ...an extract reads "a chance to be present when a new chapter in the history of Photography begins".

I have attached the invitation to enjoy and speculate over.

Also ...we are being offered a chance to buy a black or grey (not silver) M9.

Our dealer has 4 blacks and 2 greys on order. I have my name on one, wife doesn't know yet.

Mind you I do enjoy my M8 which looks destined to be a backup.
 
One month down the road and we have not yet seen a picture of the M9. This time Leica seems to have managed to put a lid on all info. Impressive.
 
Have people "seen" the S2?

I know it's been announced, and priced, and all that but has Leica shown it off at a trade show yet?

This talk of an M9 seems so "un-Leica-esque" because it's quite quick on the heels of the M8.2 is it not? I mean, compared to other camera companies that seem to produce new models every time one changes their underwear, Leica usually develops at a snails pace - not that there's anything wrong with that mind you; just that if the M9 does exist that this seems uncharacteristic of Leica that's all.

Just my two cents.

The S2's been in the wild a few times over the last couple months. Leica's been dragging it out to events.

The M8.2 is just an M8 with the available upgrades all included.
 
No...my Leica rep has been very open about the S2 since it was announced. He would say if the S2 was the guest of honor. No, this is something different. Something sinister. 😱
 
I guess I'm just a cynic when it comes to Leica development.

I expect the Catholic church to change its doctrine before Leica develops a full frame sensor M; but that's my take on it 😀.

I just think that they'd be more apt to display the S2, which seems to be available, announced, and has pricing rather than trying to show the M9 (if it exists) which has not been announced (officially), has no official pricing and has been unseen so far. 🙂

Everything I've heard from dealers & reps over and over again points to an announcement Sept 9th. And then they're holding this closed-mouth event on the 10th. There will likely be an S2 there, but it's not the source of all this intrigue.
 
It's hard to be believe that they would have some M9s ready for sale. Don't manufactures always announce new cameras way ahead of the actual release date?

Cameras yes I think, but look at Apple. They somehow hide their stuff before the announcement and release.
