Got my M9 back from Germany yesterday, came back with new covering seems the old style is no longer available feels a bit more like real leather not quite as grippy as the old stuff.

Mine is vulcanite. Never liked the sandpaper of the MP. The Monochrom covering looks nice. Sounds like yours is an improvement on the original.

It looks the same I think maybe just feels more like leather, its maybe the same as they use on ME and MM.

Get some Griptac. It's not the prettiest looking but it feels great in the hand.

This stuff isn't as grippy as griptack but absolutely has better grip than the old stuff. Flatter profile to the lumps.
