I'm in the market for a used M9 and have a couple of questions:

1) If the sensor needs replacing due to corrosion, does that replacement solve the problem? I assume it is an improved sensor, not simple another of the same?

2) Are there serial numbers to avoid?

3) What is a reasonable amount of shutter actuations to acheive before a shutter overhaul or replacement is likely?

1) it should, but only time will tell.
2) No
3) My shutter went at 110K

Often you will see M9s just back from NJ for sale with a new sensor (but not the latest), that's what I bought, and two years later it's still good :)

The sensor is the same. The coating - which was the cause of the problem- has been changed. No numbers to avoid. The shutter is stable.
