Hi all,

I have been using GXR with various zm, leica and vc lenses. Today I rented a M9 to try out the true RF experience. So far like it a lot. Feel that there is less guessing in focusing compare to using EVF.

However, I found that with all my lenses, when turning the focusing ring to max distance, the split images don't really align together. Some are closer than the others. The Leica 50mm Lux is the worst. However, the objects at distance seem to be focussed well. So is this normal?

Also when focusing closer objects, I noticed that I can only align the object image horizontally, vertically it's will not be aligned. Is this correct?

Thanks. Never own a RF before but am interested in it. Have been ready this forums for a while.

Cheers.

The split images should be aligned both vertically and horizontally at all distances within the focusing range of the lens (minimum focusing distance through infinity).

Thanks for replying. I just tried again, as I hold the cam horizontally, the images can be aligned horizontally. There is still some misalignment vertically. The further the object is away, the misalignment is more.

Is this more of a cam problem? This is a rented body.

Thanks again.

My M2 has the RF vertically off too, probably result of a slight knock or bang against the body.

Since the moving images line up with a horizontal movement, that should be in order to make sure your focus is correct.

It's easy enough to find vertical lines in any subject you focus on, or find a highlight point that you can still line up horizontally and be sure the focus is correct.

I would enjoy the M9 now, point out the slightly impaired focusing when returning it and asking for a partial refund since you could expect the camera to be 100% for a 100% renting price and it wasn't. Renting company should have checked before handing it out.

manager: well, RF were fine when we passed camera to you, so adjustment costs will be added to your order. If you insist it already were off you had to point out to this when receiving camera.

Hope this will not be the case!
