Sales of the M9 must have collapsed as everyone waits for the M10 announcement. I presume that the M10 will be a lot better, but also more expensive.

There is so much increased competition in the FF market, Leica can't miss the mark...

Also, I think the M9M is a smart way to continue utilizing the Kodak sensor.

It was nice of Leica to try to let their dealers clear out stock. Never know though... depending on what is released, the M9 could become desirable.
