This collector has posted over 12,000 images on flickr, scanned from slides that he has collected over the years. Almost everything was shot by others, often US servicemen who were stationed in Korea or Japan in the 50s and 60s, or visiting Hong Kong in the 50s, 60s and 70s. The amount of time and money he has put into buying, scanning and posting these slides is incredible. And the images themselves are an amazing look at a world most of us only vaguely know.

He is looking for museums or other institutions to whom he can leave his collection, or parts thereof. I've suggested places like the Hong Kong Central Library, and military museums in America for the servicemen images. Great photos, thanks for posting. Apart from the Hong Kong Central Library, another possibility is the Hong Kong History Museum.

With the state of Hong Kong and China right now, I think I'd look for a Japanese museum instead.

On the topic of great respect, you may want to reconsider your use of the term "Japs". I don't think you meant any disrespect, but the term is generally regarded as derogatory and offensive:

I sincerely hope he finds good homes for his collection. He told me he has over 15,000 slides, and has paid up to $500 for some sets of slides at auction. The amount of time and work he's put into this boggles my mind. The Hong Kong Central Library has a collection of 14,000 images - he has a thousand more!

Another reason why Flickr needs the financial backing of those who can afford to support it.
Archiving, indexing and sharing image repositories freely is not possible in the walled gardens of FB, IG and Google Photos.

On Flickr, user 'Manhhai' has posted more than 101,000 photos of Vietnam: covering the French colonial era; the 'American war', and the post-1975 era. I have no idea who he is. Not 'a collection' but nevertheless a treasure trove for those with an interest in Vietnam and its history.
