Sergio Larraín, chilean photographer, former member of the Magnum Agency, died yesterday, at the age of 81, in his home in the town of Ovalle (north of Chile).

Among other singularities of his life, Larraín was the inspiration for Julio Cortázar's short story "Las babas del Diablo" that, in turn, was Michelangelo Antonioni's inspiration for his movie "Blow-up"

Larraín himself was the inspiration of the novel "El fotógrafo de Dios" ("God's photographer"), written by Marcelo Simonetti, that ventured an explanation for Larraín's sudden and mysterious early retirement, at the height of his career.
