I have done a big upgrade to the gallery. Please report any issues you encounter.
Some of the changes include the ability to get all the details including who liked it and exif from the caption box.
For example, look at the blue links on the attached image. This is what is there now.

The annoying hamburger menu under the thumbs are gone now. Just click on the title / comment icon to pop up the info box and click on the red close to close it. before, just moving the mouse around caused erratic behavior.
color theme has slightly changed.
The expand and collapse arrow now work on most pages.
the mobile version is now more consistent and shows more data when clicking on the photo titles.
lots of minor bugs have been fixed
stories has been added so you can create photo essays. For example ...
www.rangefinderforum.com
Thanks
JT

Well I can now upload from my phone to the gallery which I have not been able to do for months despite complaining to you about it far too much. That problem pretty much caused me to give up on RFF for a while so I may have to start contributing again.......thank you.
Glad it works now

Because of the 5 daily upload limit I tend to email myself photos prepped for RFF and upload whilst on the road as I'm going through a big roadtrip phase so I hardly ever use this forum on my computer, only on the phone.
I just had a another good look and this is a major improvement. Much easier and more logical. Very much appreciated.
Thanks again, Mark

Nice, thanks! I really like how clicking on the thumbnail displays the image full screen.
But when I looked at New, Hall of Fame, Trending, and Recently Liked photos, all comments have disappeared and there doesn't seem to be a way to access them.
Running Mac OS Ventura 13.6.7 and Safari browser.
IMO, the way it used to work with the old software seemed terrific at the time, where clicking on the image brought up not just an enlarged image, but a list of all existing comments below it. It wasn't necessary to click on anything more to see all the comments. Very user friendly and convenient.
But, perhaps even better, If it could be implemented so that clicking on the image continues to enlarge the image full frame, but clicking on the name below the image brings up exif and all comments, that arrangement would be super convenient.

One other upgrade just now. Mainly visible on the desktop version when looking at photos. Rearranged the layout of photo details and comments.
now expands and shrinks as you set expand/shrink preference from the top menu. arrows right next to the word Theme.
Here is a good example

Unfortunately my computer display looks drastically different and comments are NEVER displayed on my computer when viewing the Gallery. I'll attach below a screen shot of my entire page while viewing the "Hall of Fame" in the gallery and clicking on the name displayed under one of the photos.

That pop up is just a summarized view of details with certain quick links and ability to add comments.
To view comments and all the photo details, click on the small thumbnail of the picture itself inside that pop up box. It's a link to the photo page for that photo.

Oh, ok. So click the text below the photo to open the summary box and then click the circle containing a small image of the photo. I was missing this last step -- 'seem to have clicked everywhere but that circle. Thanks!
lol. i will make that circle square and surround it with a bright color or something.
ok, the thumb is now square. the title of the photo is now also a link that takes you to the photo page as well. It's either a title or a photo #xxxx if no title. so now there are two ways of getting to the photo.
Just pushed a new version for the mobile. It shows the photo details and photo much better now when browsing on a mobile device!

The only thing I'd consider doing differently would be to display all the comments when the box is clicked. It's a minor thing, but it would save users from having to find and click yet another box. So, it would increase user friendliness. And there there would be no downside to doing it that way, at least from the users' perspective.

when you click on the summary popup box click on View comments
ok folks. now you can view and add comments directly from the summary box thatyou get when you click on a photo caption or title below the thumb. still a bit buggy but works well. I just need to have the window close if you open another one. besides that. it's getting a bit more friendly to use.

Is it possible to simply show all the comments, rather than having to continue clicking to get to the start?
