mamiya 6mf pano question

i borrowed my friends pano kit to try it just for fun. got it installed along with a roll of 35mm film. but the winding of the film is VERY stiff and hard to advance. I know the mam 6 has winder issues so Im not really comfortable winding the film that's this stiff. is this normal with using 35mm film, as i know its slightly thicker than 120/220 film. yes I turned the pressure plate to the 220/35mm setting
