Planning on using my Mamiya 7II for landscapes using filters and likely initially using the built in meter.

Will I need to manually set the compensaton function depending on the filter type or will the camera set expose automatically reading through the filter ?

the camera doesn't meter through the lens. set your exposure compensation top or just remember the filter factor when metering.

...and ensure your filters are of the screw on type. I have a Lee filter system I use on my Mamiya 7 but exposure needs to be done in manual mode as the filter system partially obscures the inbuilt meter.

Are you using the Lee RF75 filter system?

No Robert, just the standard filter holder. The RF75 is interesting to a point in addressing the issue of blocking the meter's view but for many filters - ie graduated NDs - the issue is still going to prevail. Square filter systems on this camera are a compromise to begin with so, for me, its really just a matter of being aware of the issues they create and working around them.
