My prism finder became stuck on my Mamiya 645. The release knob was turning freely and wouldn't push. I couldn't find a solution online but I figured it out. Here is how to fix it for future reference.
The release knob is made of two pieces that thread together. Mine wasn't threaded tightly enough and came slightly undone which messed up the release mechanism.
You have to peel the nameplate on the finder, remove the two outer screws (the smaller pair) and remove the nameplate holder. This is for the simple non-metered prism finder. This will reveal two holes. With a tooth pick and crude aiming you can then push the spring-loaded tabs holding the finder on the body. With the finder off, remove the bottom plate at the rear (4 screws) and the little plate over the release knob. Insert a small screwdriver inside the hole at the end of the knob and tighten the assembly with pliers at the knurled end. That did it for me.

I'll keep that in the memory bank. Thanks, Olivier.
