Under my "Is this camera Salvageable" thread I ended by saying I'd sent the camera to Mark Hama for the work to be done. I sent the camera via priority mail this past Monday and the UPS guy dropped it off this morning. He did a full CLA in addition to fixing the stuck film advance and self timer I knew were bad, and replaced the lens filter ring and the battery compartment, both of which I thought were OK. At most he had the camera for two days. The total was $117 which included a new battery and return shippping. This has got to be the best service on anything that I have had in recent memory. I'm located on the south side of Atlanta and he's just up on the northside, but this is still fantastic service.

I'll try to run a roll of Fuji Reala 100 or Kodak 400 UC through it this weekend, have it developed at Sam's club and then scan to see how it performs. Then I'll see if I can figure out how to post my first images here--hardest part of this whole affair, I'll bet.

That's what I said weeks ago. He had my GT and GTN back to me in under 2 weeks. All are working fine as far as I can currently tell. I'm carrying my GTN with me today, in fact!

Perhaps his personal life has turned a corner for the better - and he has time again. Good to hear some good experiences with him. Would be a shame for such a skilled cameraman like him to be saddled with a bad service rep forever. :)
