Hello, tomorrow's May Day, and I would love to go out on the street and shoot but I have to stay in and study for my exams.
Does anyone have any plans?
FSU rangefinder fans especially, history is calling you to the streets!

May Day? I'm going to have a fine needle aspiration performed on a tumour in my neck, luckily my endocrinologist is from Pakistan and resides here legally, so he will be at work to perform the procedure instead of out protesting

Sorry to hear about that, Todd. I hope it all gets taken care of
I didn't hear about the planned protest until yesterday. I don't have many details to know exactly what it is about. When Aunt Bertha said that Uncle Bert said that Ernie said that Ronnie said that Newtie said that Rod said that Rover said that the milkman said that Bertha said that I was missing, I don't know what the message is anymore...

I'm going to an old airfield where some bods are doing a car sprint, it's all rather flat (as airfields are) so arty SLR panning car shots are out. Thought I'd take the RF and do a spot of pit crew car preparation stuff as some of tha cars will be quite old. MG Magnate anyone
Time to open that sepia toner.

I don't see what's particularly historical about demonstrations and protests, they seem to happen every weekend in London.
The May Day protests here have quietened down considerably since 2000. And ok, only interesting photographically if you like to photograph a bunch of people (self-styled anarchists) with bad haircuts break windows and chant slogans.....
I think I'll just be enjoying my day off from work.

Well, having been affiliated with this Irish Music group for over twenty years, I've seen or read most of the May Day history. Iif anyone would like to listen to a couple of tracks tomorrow, here's the link to our website, which should have some samples linked from there:
www.baaltinne.com
The group name is basically a variation of Beltaine, which is the Irish gaelic name for the month of May(still!)
Best regards,
John

I think I have called about everything there is in my past 56 years but never an anarchists now twice in one week someone has called me that. Is this some new aberration in insults? I'm not even sure it's much of an insult.

I have deleted my own posts as they do not have much to do with rangefinders.

I don't think most of my fellow Americans know that May Day is a holiday in Europe. It is not one here.
However, the immigration movement HAS chosen May 1 for "A Day Without Immigrants" boycott. I do not think it has any direct connection to the historical roots of May Day (neither the 19th C. political ones nor the much earlier Maypole festivals of the Middle Ages!
