I have many cameras. Some digital and mostly film. A winner has been chosen. I am going on a photo tour of Israel next week (no politics, please). After reading a brave Steve Huff article about a guy who went to Iran with an M6, lenses and Tri-X film and oh an iPhone for quickies and email, I decided to do the same. Chose the F over the others because it has never failed me in 40 years and it just takes great shots. I chose Ilford XP-2 B/W film as my medium because I just love the contrast it expresses. Will bring my Iphone 6 for quickies to friends and family along the way. A little nervous about the decsion (my M's and my Pentax K-5iis are very offended by my choice), but that's that. Meter-less F here we go.😀😱😀

Good luck! I think limiting the gear you bring - whatever that may be - will work best. I often went to trips with a bag so full of gear I never bothered to get started as I didn't know what to reach for.

If it's your F, have it hanging around your neck at all times and you'll adjust the scene to match the camera rather than always thinking on what camera to use for the current situation you are in.

That's such a good looking camera. Always liked the F with the standard prism.

There's a real freedom in going with a meterless camera. I've never replaced the batteries in my M6 and so have, essentially, an M4 and it's a great way to go; really frees up your mind I think.

Akiva--an outstanding choice--what are you doing for a meter? Sunny 16? Or is the light in Israel all the same? Or did I miss what you said... In any event, good travelling and be careful...have a great trip! Take a wide--I recently got a 1965 20mm UD and it is super duper...best to you.

Love your choice of camera + lenses Akiva. I have a similar feeling for my Nikkormat FT2/FTNs. They just keep on going. Have a great trip!

Travel well and safe.
Your choice of Nikon-F a good one, plus digital for color and family/friends.
Oh! Israel it's all family..😀
Not sure of the mod. on the Nikon?
Shoot first then mirror slap..
I hate delays esp with slow cameras..
The unchanged Nikon-F the fastest release of my SLR kit.

i have pancake Nikkor-GN 45mm , first model.
Focuses wrong way to my other Nikon lenses..
The 40mm which way focus?
I love the 28mm and always use a 50mm.
The 105mm was almost glued for decades on the F.
Go enjoy.🙂

I was travelling in Israel the first week of July last year, when everything started getting...interesting.

Me and my friends rented a car and did a 600km road trip in 5 days! I was in the same situation as you, deciding what camera to take. I was travelling light (hand luggage only) and limited myself to a single camera with 5 rolls of XP2 and 5 rolls of Ektar.

After changing my mind from my Nikonos V last minute I took my Olympus Mju II and didn't regret it at all.

You'll have an awesome time. Make sure to upload some snaps when you're back.
