Thanks to Rick Oleson in particular I know that there exist a couple of adaptation possibilities, not as many as in the 35mm-camera area, but anyhow quite a lot.

I have one — very probably Medium Format — adapter that puzzles me* since I cannot remember whether I would have owned either a matching lens or camera.

Its diameter is over 7 cm, and it's very heavy, probably brass, anodised (I suppose) in a beige-metallic colour, the innards are blackened, in other words: it doesn't look like DIY.

The adapter's thickness is over 1 cm, and it has a male side with four lugs, and a female side for a three-lugs-bayonet.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

A picture wood help. One side smaller than the other? Could be a 50B to 60B adapter? You have a vernier for better measurements? Some guys like me use there 60B filters on the 50B

Immediately when I find my wife's digital camera, I'll add some photos. My calliper is already on my desk, I'll add more precise measurements together with the pictures 🙂

With you stating adapter, I am almost sure it is the adapter I mentioned above. The Normal 80mm on the Hassey is a 60 Bay mount, and for example the older 150 Sonnar is a 50 Bay Mount. Why have separate filters for each, when you just put on the adapter. Hassey filters are very expensive in mint or more expensive to order new. Also it could be used for the various shade holder adapters too.
