Desperate but not serious
With MOMA closed and BART on strike again, we seem to be a rut.
(IE we haven't had a meet up in some time)
As such, we need to get out said rut and back to a meet up of some sort. Any suggestions?

Let's meet at Looking Glass weekend of October 19-20
Thanks for reading my mind. Here's a thought on this: what about meet at Lookig Glass in Berkeley on Saturday or Sunday this weekend; it is their Grand Opening at the new location.

I will be in Berkeley this weekend, October 19-20. I plan to meet Jamie at either 3pm or 4:30 pm on Saturday (he's talking a class at LG 3-4:30 on Saturday).
Away from a computer on the weekend. My cell phone: 916-719-6549.

The new address for Looking Glass is
1045 Ashby Ave Berkeley, California 94710
Also events
https://lookingglassphoto.com/events
Kala Art Institute is right around the corner and has the following open gallery
http://www.kala.org/exhibitions/current.html
I suspect this quick a turn around for a meet up might not work for them.
So if anyone has any better idea, dates, locations, ect, please let us know!

I'll be going by there anyway. Tom the Leica Man is supposed to bring an M240 for folks to play with, and I need to see & fondle it – in order to persuade myself I don't want one.
It's right near my workspace in Berkeley and even nearer to Berkeley Bowl West, which is a good-enough place to have lunch.

The LHSA has its annual meeting at the end of the month - in San Francisco . There must be some RFF members who are gong to it? The Saturday is usually occupied by presentations and evening dinner and the Sunday am is the LHSA swap meet. Possible evening would be Friday. We are driving down from Vancouver and will be in the city by wednesday evening with no particular plans for the thursday evening and most likely not for the friday either.

Hi Tom,
Friday 1st. sounds like a great idea - I'd take the afternoon off to come down from Santa Rosa to SF for the evening ?
Anyone else in ?

I wonder if the Sony rep will also be there with the A7r - I hear Sug has ordered one ( I passed on my M.240 order when one became available )

Hi Douglas (Frozen = Douglas, I think?) I did the same thing – I was on the list at Dale & took my name off because I didn't like what I saw of the color rendering. Just goin' to persuade myself I did the right thing.

Hi Kirk,
I've not seen one in the flesh yet, let alone taken any sample shots, so would be interested in your impressions of the M.240. Right now I'm in no rush; happy sitting on the fence.

My dealer has the M in both colourways and the MM from stock, and on the web, not flying away here. (UK)

'Scuse me, Donald. Did a test shot with M9 & M240 + 35mm. Aimed at festive balloons and overhead fluorescents to see if there was much difference in highlight range at base ISO. On monitor, no interesting difference at 100%. Shutter quieter but not all that much. Framelines brighter. As far as I can see the only appreciable gain would be higher ISOs & maybe more dynamic range above base ISO. I remain happy enough with what I've got.

Hi Kirk, sounds like incremental improvements, but not enough to reach a tipping point.
Hi Kent, it does look good on paper
If it works well with the 21 Summilux, I'm in.

Kirk- Not sure what time you got to the store, but the sony rep had a table full of gear out most of the day. Not that I got a chance to play with anything, it was a bit of a crazy day for everyone! Not sure If she had an A7 yet or not. (Olympus had the E-M1, but Fuji didn't have the XE-2 yet)
Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi to everyone- I saw Jamie walking around but it was pretty hopping most of the day.

Sony rep had all the models EXCEPT the A7's. The Leica guy had the latest models, but I didn't play with them much... too heavy.
