Heading to Melbourne with Mrs Expanding for 4 days R & R.

What are the camera shops worth visiting? Especially those with a good range of used gear.

I'll be staying on Collins St.

Thanks.

Mr Expanding, I'm from Sydney but I go down to Melbourne quite often. It's a personal challenge for me to find interesting camera gear there.
The best 2nd hand shop is probably Camera Exchange. They used to be very convenient in Lonsdale St but moved out to Box Hill South. A complete pain to get to by public transport, but if you have a car it's not so bad. You need to call before you go though. I don't think the shop is manned all the time. you can see what they have online, but they have a lot more in their dusty store/warehouse. the owner is also a big classic/vintage hi-fi dealer.
There is Camera Lane in Lt Bourke St, between Elizabeth and Queen Sts which is small but packed with stuff. Their window is certainly worth a look.
There's the giant Michael's on Elizabeth, cnr with Lonsdale. Have a look in their windows too. Their prices are usually in the realm of "tell them they're dreaming". They have a fantastic camera museum though, if you haven't seen it before.
Looking at Gumtree, I sometimes see what could be interesting 2nd hand shops in places like South Melbourne and Armadale, but I've never been to them and I suspect they are probably only open by appointment.
Have a good time in Melbourne. I love the place myself.
