Just received in the post this morning! A 1940/41 IIIc Stepper with matching Summitar! Needs a full CLA, and I knew that. But for $250, I think I did alright! First curtain is red. Need to save some money then off to Youxin! I think this will be a nice shooter!

Nice deal!

Too bad about the red curtain, but most of them look like this.

Ask YY to reglue the vulcanite and plug the flash sync port. I think he can cover it up near invisible.
Ask him about the RF contrast, it sometimes can improve greatly with a replacement of the beam splitter and it doesn't have to be costly if he's working on the camera anyway.

Matching Summitar, you lucky dog! 😀 still hoping to bump into a 1942 specimen for my chrome wartime Leica II... But, nothing to burn on gear so it won't happen! 🙂

Thanks for chiming in Johan!

Will see what YY says about the curtains. The body is in user condition, with nothing major like dings/dents, but there is a few spots of chrome loss. So I wouldn't be bummed if he just recovered it.

The contrast in this camera is better than any barnack I had in the past! My first Leica was a IIIg and I also had a late IIIc for a short time.

The Summitar is clean with just some light haze. Some light cleaning marks, but overall a nice specimen! Good luck on your search for one!

That vulcanite seems to be the original and it will improve on the value of the (wartime) camera if it is still on the body. It just needs glueing down with 10-second glue. Usually I use a syringe and hypodermic needle to get it between body and vulcanite.
