meyer-optic1:1.9/58 V

i don't know about the question you asked Brian, but meyer-optik normals have excellent reputations. i had an m-42 version of the f1.8 for my sp1000. excellent lens ...

The 58mm focal length is a problem, it is too far off from the Leica standard to transplant into a 50mm focus mount. What would be required is a custom machined "indexed cam". That would run some money. Better to look for a 50mm focal length lens. I hacked a 50mm F2 "Luxon" onto a J-3 mount, and a 50/2.8 Tessar in M42 mount to an I61 focus mount.

Brian,

I would love to see details of the Tessar conversion - I can pick those up for small change

Any chance of a pictorial?

Incidentally, what mount was the Luxon - PK?

Hate to be a wet blanket--this sounds like what was sold as the Hugo Meyer Primoplan--a 5-element f:1.9 lens that did not have a stellar reputation. Maybe efforts are best directed elsewhere.

No pictorial, but-

The I-61 is a Tessar, and the optics sit out about the same as the M42 mount Tessar, preset. Took the Optics module from the Tessar (chrome, preset model) and used it's retaining ring in the I-61. Epoxied the retaining ring into place, screwed the Tessar in then epoxied into place. Sold it a while ago.

The Luxon was 39mm mount- but incorrect register for Leica. Raid has it now.

Thanks Brian - hmm "preset", so not the one with the aperture plunger, eh? Maybe not so common on the great auction site in the clouds (thinks: must set a search).

I have a 39mm 28mm lens somewhere - I have a feeling it's off a russky 1/2 frame, so probably not enough releif to get it shimmed for ltm - unless you know different.......... [manic laughter]

Yup, Looks like I got myself another paperweight. Too bad, it's a fine "looking" lens--- - on the outside:(.

my meyer-optik was the 50/1.8 oreston in m-42, a really fine lens. i just saw three on ebay running 95-120 OBO, probably too much for an experiment. they can be picked up much cheaper with a praktica slr/lens deal.

It seems that someone has cobbled together something with this lens to fit LTM in Poland, and are now trying to sell it for just over 1kGBP on Ebay.

To the OP, the Primoplan may not be that good but it does seem to have a 'cult' following with the crowd who stick old lens onto digital cameras and go ooh at the bokeh, so you would probably do as well to sell it on.
