There's this rumor going around street photography is impossible with large and loud cameras. This thread is all about large and loud, feel free to post any MF/LF street shots (candid!), let's exclude TLR since there's an amazing thread dedicated to them already (plus they're too quiet to qualify 😉 ). I'll start with a mediocre but close-up image

Taken last saturday on the local farmers market with the Hasselblad c/m + 80mm Planar and some Ilford Delta rated at 100. I pre-focused and missed a little (f5.6).

I don't have a scanner so I'm not able to show you anything right now but I do shoot street with a Mamiya m645, Yashica Mat 124G and at times a Nikon F2 w/MD-1 (motor drive)
I'm not looking to hide while shooting and if I get caught, oh well!!!

First two were shot with a Hassey 501cm. Last one with a Mamiya M645 Super. The Mamiya was way less stealthy than the 501 bc of the loud motor drive grip. I found the WLF on the Hassey was great for candid work.

Great!! The third one is amazing, I really like it. One issue I have is focusing, it's virtually impossible with the WLF at f5.6 (for me that is) without using the magnifier. How do you guys do it? What Aperture do you use?

Now that is a great shot! I tried some street with my hasselblad, and I have some decent (unscanned) samples. However, since I typically shoot with my hasselblad on a tripod, its not very stealthy! I also found focusing very difficult.

I have tonnes of shots with my Nikon SLRs (FE2/FM2).

I've been using a Pentax SLR on the street and the shutter is noisy but most of the time it seems to go unnoticed. For the other times I just smile and keep moving.

When I use the Yashica Mat I have to use the Magnifier to focus properly...
The Taking Lens is a 3.5 but the Viewing Lens is a 2.8 so it is a bit brighter...
Also when shooting with the TLR I'll focus with the Magnifier on a subject/building/zone or what ever I find to be important in the photo and then after focusing I flip the Magnifier down and then compose the shot I want just using the View Finder...as long as I don't move or my subject I should be able to get sharp in focus shots...

With a Mamiya 645:

This was from a tripod; I was shooting something else at first.

Nice work from everybody.

I haven't a scanner yet either, but I do rather like taking my Bronica ETRSi out for a spot of street shooting. If anything it seems less conspicuous than my Nikon FE2... perhaps because people mistake it for a video camera.
