Has anyone seen a pre-release review on this new scanner? The original delivery date was modified and is now July '07 so it seems likely that review units may be out there...

On paper it looks to be a great film scanner for those who need multiple formats.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Epson's V700/750. I thought the i900 35mm scans were cleaner though they didn't deliver the same resolution and there was no ICE for film.

I'm curious, too. In my quest for a scanner, I'd sort of settled on the Coolscan V, but this one is of interest because it could accommodate 4x5 originals.

I know of some people who are supposed to be at the top of the list for review samples and they don't have them yet. If I remember correctly, there was *another* recent post from Microtek that said production has been moved back to late June or July and that they are now hoping for availability in August. They did the same thing with the i900 when it was announced (delay, delay, delay) and it finally came out in August if I remember right.

the latest date from Microtek is now Oct 2007. I am anxiously waiting for a review and/or comparison with the v700 so I can make up my mind.

With all the delays I am becoming a bit skeptical. Either they're really nailing it down or it has a lot of problems, some which may make their way into final production.

are there any signs of this mystical scanner? Microtek site says it will manufacture in Sept and deliver in Oct.

Last thing I heard about this mysterous gost of a scanner was that it was to be at the
PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo 2007 18-19 Oct

Is this thrue?
Or are we just :bang:

I called Microtek about 2 weeks ago and they said it should start to ship at the end of October.

did anyone else notice that there is no mention of digital ICE in the Microtek press release? Am I missing something?

was at B&H this weekend and inquired about the M1. The sales person I saw knows about it, but it is still not in their system. They are not accepting pre-orders at this time. They do not have a product description yet.

Is this Microtek a hoax???

Is this Microtek a hoax???

I'm looking forward to read the first review of the new sanner from Microtek but is it real???
The time elapsed sinc the first sign of this scanner has resulted in 5 new scanners from Epson and 4 new scanners from canon + a few from HP etc, etc.

Anyhow I looking forward to it, and I hope it was worth the time it took to develop!

By the way I have a new review of the new Canon 8800F for you (This scanner is actully released :0)

You can find it here:http://www.stockholmviews.com/canon_8800f_review/8800fpage1.html

Take care/ Stefan;)

believe it or not, it looks like the M1 is getting closer to release. There was an ad in this month's Pop Photo and it referenced a new site - www.artixscanm1.com, although the site has very little except for telling you what it will eventually have. The one thing missing from the ad and the site is any reference to Digital ICE.

FWIW, people who have signed reviewer agreements have been told to expect their evaluation units at the end of this coming week.

thanks Doug. I look forward to seeing some of those reviews. I expect photo-i.co.uk will have one. I am sure ZDNet sites will also cover it.

apparently (according to the Microtek website) the M1 is shipping to distributors and some retailers. Interestingly, there is (now) also a M1 Pro. From what I have read this unit is the same hardware, but has better software (full version of SilverFast).

In a previous post, I also questioned whether Digital ICE was included with the M1. It seems that Microtek's E.D.I.T. process takes care of scratches and dust so ICE would not be necessary. We'll see.

I saw one in Vancouver yesterday. Beau Photo received 10 units. So it is shipping, and in large numbers, apparently. I, too am really looking forward to this scanner

OK - I just ordered the M1 Pro from JR.com at $699USD. Found out the Pro package contains the full version of Silverfast AI and an extra set of negative carriers to speed up workflow. That'll be sweet.

It is backordered right now but with free shipping I can wait.

Anyone want a decent Epson 2450 Photo and/or Minolta DiMage Scan Elite II?
