I'm currently evaluating scanner options. I already have a 35mm scanner (Canon FS4000US), and since reading opinions here, I think I should keep it and look for an additional scanner for 120 film.
The Epson V700 is the very obvious choice, reasonably priced, good results seem possible with a little effort.
The Microtek scanner *should* be good, as I understand the i800 and the rest scan film with an autofocus lens, without going through the glass bed of the flatbed. This surely has to be a good thing, although I only seem to read criticism of Microtek everywhere I look.
Anyone got any first hand experience of the i800 vs. V700? They are about the same price, although the i800 is a lot less if I factor in the betterscanning.com film holder for the V700.
For me the Nikons are not an option, just too much money.
